Coats for the City

We are excited to invite your church to be a part of Coats for the City, a powerful evangelistic outreach in partnership with the North Carolina and South Carolina Baptist Conventions, happening December 5–7, 2025, right here in New York City.

Each year, Coats for the City brings together churches to distribute thousands of warm winter coats across the city – not just meeting physical needs, but opening doors for sharing the hope of the gospel with those who need it most.

Here’s how your church can get involved:
● Volunteer Teams – Engage your members in serving on the streets of NYC alongside partnering churches from North & South Carolina.
● Prayer Support – Commit to covering this outreach in prayer

This is an incredible opportunity to live out the Great Commission in our city during one of the most strategic times of the year. If your church is interested in participating, please register below!

Next Steps

  • Wait for confirmation from Janet Packard with North Carolina Baptists that you have been signed up.
  • Begin planning where and how you will distribute coats in December.

What is required to be a Host Church?
  • Ability to pick up Coats on Thursday, December 4th, from one of the distribution sites (Ridgewood or Park Slope).
  • Ability to host your volunteer team for a prayer walk or outreach event on Friday morning to orient them to your church and your neighborhood.
  • Attend the Friday night worship service at First Baptist Church of NYC.
  • A location to host your coat distribution (church building, school, park, sidewalk, etc. We’ve had churches do it all!). We encourage our churches have coffee, refreshments, snacks, and information about your church to share with those that receive coats! Also, plan a way to collect information from those that receive coats so that you can stay connected with them!
Sample Schedule
  • Coat Pick-Up: Thursday 12:30-3:00 pm
    • Park Slope or Ridgewood
  • Neighborhood Ministry: Friday Morning
    • Prayer Walk, Coffee Distribution, Etc. This will be a chance for your volunteer team to learn more about your community
  • Worship Event: Friday @ 4:00 pm
  • Coat Distribution: Saturday Morning
    • You pick a time and place that best suits your church and your neighborhood!
  • Church Service: Sunday Morning
    • We would love for your NC or SC volunteer team to worship with you on Sunday Morning. Please make plans to have them with you!
