Collegiate Ministry

Collegiate ministry in the Northeastern part of the United States has been a part of Southern Baptist efforts for the past 50 years.  Schools of all levels and teaching aims have been served both by full-time missionary personnel, short-term leaders, and volunteers.

The work in our Association and State Convention has also sent students from our area all over the globe, for long, short, and lifetime mission projects.

You have a chance now to help that outreach to carry on.

Collegiate Northeast is forming to allow Southern Baptist collegiate work to remain supported on campuses in the New York Metro area, with the hope to expand to other underserved Northeastern areas in the future.

According to "Wikipedia:"

There are about 594,000 university students in New York City attending around 110 universities and colleges] New York State is the nation’s largest importer of college students, according to statistics which show that among freshmen who leave their home states to attend college, more come to New York than any other state, including California. Enrollment in New York State is led by New York City, which is home to more university students than any other city in the United States.

On the area campuses where Southern Baptists have established ministries, there is the valuable asset of longevity.  Even the most "closed" universities have come to respect and acknowledge the work of long-term SBC commitment to serving their students.  This is especially true of the country's oldest and most prestigious schools.

In the beginning, this effort, through MNYBA will include work at:

  • Princeton University
  • New York University
  • Columbia University and Barnard College
  • International Student Ministry across New York City
